Introduction

LDAPfs is pseudo filesystem that provides an interface to LDAP directories. LDAPfs allows LDAP entries to be read and written using the familiar file system interface. Organizational units (ou) and distinguished names (dn) are treated like directories and individual attributes appear as files. LDAPfs can to read, write, delete and create LDAP entries. LDAPfs is released under the GNU GPL.

LDAPfs is written entirely in C and can be built with GNU make and gcc. It requires the OpenLDAP libraries for LDAP operations. Under Linux, it also requires FUSE or the Coda kernel module (which comes with the Linux kernel). Under Solaris or FreeBSD, it requires the Coda kernel module.
